Pink and green.

The amazing combination of grapefruit and arugula.

Just the other day, Erin said she'd never yet tasted one of my smoothies she didn't like. Perhaps better to hold off on this one then.

Apparently, it's also a salad combo: pink grapefruit and arugula. News to me—I thought I'd invented the blend. On a day when I had the ingredients at the ready and decided to give it a go.

It's a little strange, peeling a grapefruit. Easy though. Then following the theory that apple and pear seeds are good for you (spark of potential growth hidden inside and all that), I decided to just chuck the whole peeled grapefruit into my Blendtec. In sections, of course, and with only some of the white part beneath the peel still present.

The first time I made this, my standard two cups of filtered water was way too much. Grapefruit is very juicy, so I now use only a cup.

No banana, nothing else… just big handfuls of arugula. Whiz and enjoy.

It's different, but something I've found myself craving these winter months. Perhaps it's the giant grapefruit displays at the megamart. I've always loved the tang of grapefruit juice, and somehow the snap of arugula's taste goes well.

Cautionary note: it seems that while it's working to detox your liver, grapefruit also blocks that same action as far as drugs go. (Remember, your liver is where drugs—which are toxins—are dealt with.)

My suggestion? If you're taking any kind of drugs, be careful about grapefruit in your green smoothie. (And my further suggestion? Get back to authentic health and away from those prescriptions anyway. Check with your doctor. Yada-yada-yada.)
